Dr Shandy Vijayan is an associate dentist, clinical lecturer at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and a proud mum of two. With over ten years of experience across the NHS and private practice, she currently works in several private clinics, focusing on cosmetic, restorative, and periodontal care. Alongside her clinical work, she holds postgraduate diplomas in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry and Periodontics and has a deep passion for teaching and mentoring dental students.
As Chief Operating Officer of the Dental Mums Network, Shandy’s work is rooted in compassion and purpose. Her mission is to create a safe and supportive space for women in dentistry where they feel encouraged, valued and empowered to grow both personally and professionally. She envisions a profession where motherhood is not seen as a barrier but as a powerful part of a woman’s journey.
She is passionate about offering workshops that rebuild confidence, networking opportunities that spark career growth and community spaces where women can meet others who truly understand the unique challenges of balancing dentistry and motherhood. Through this network, Shandy hopes to help women reconnect with their voice, step outside their comfort zones and discover a sense of self-leadership that leads to a more fulfilling and joyful life during motherhood and beyond.
